Gabriel Chan - British Columbia Advocate for Sports and Camp Development
Although I accepted Christ when I was around seven years old, I only recently started to surrender my life to Him. I want to recognize and use the gifts he has given me to encourage others and lead them closer to Jesus.
I was raised in a Christian family with two sisters and my family has kept me faithful in my walk with God. My family is very supportive of Awana and my desire to be a part of the BC advocacy team. I grew up participating in Awana clubs starting as a Cubbie. The senior years (journey program) of Awana are the years that impacted me the most. Having been an intern last year, I have witnessed the impact Awana has on children and youth and sometimes even parents. It’s really inspiring and has made me want to contribute in meaningful ways. I have been taught to know, love and now serve the Lord Jesus Christ and I am choosing to do that through Awana. I am happy that there have been opportunities for me to do that as an intern and now as a part-time Advocate.
I am also pursuing a diploma in Motion Picture Arts. Working in media has given me many opportunities to contribute to Awana through event photography and videography. The Advocate program allows me to use the skills I have for the benefit of a ministry I love.
