Cory

Hi, I'm Cory Vail! I'm the Regional Director for Awana in Atlantic Canada. Learn more about me.

Gabe

Gary grew up on a farm near Hartland, NB attending The People's Church and their Awana Club where he became a Leader in 1984 while still in High School. He completed one year of business administration at Bob Jones University and graduated from NBBI in 1990. He is married to Christina who grew up in nearby Quispamsis and came to Christ through neighbours and a local church children’s ministry. Gary and Christina have served together since 1992 at five One Hope Canada Atlantic Bible Camps, and in the regional office as Director. They are currently the Director Couple at Sandy Cove Bible Camp and minister through Bible Teaching and Children’s Ministry. Gary has just stepped aside as his local church’s Awana Ministry Director after 18 years, however, continues to be the Journey/Trek Bible Teacher.

This student online Bible study will allow those in Gr. 6 through 12 the opportunity to explore with others the themes investigated by Awana’s His Story material. Since the one and a-half hour meet will be held in live conversation through webcam or phone, your proximity to an Awana ministry is no longer a holdback from participating with us!

How much work is expected during each week?

Each week's lesson is broken up into seven days of study. With the exception of day seven, which would be our group meeting, each day is designed to take about 15 minutes to complete depending on each person.

What is required to complete the His Story Study?

For each week's lesson, you will be required to fill in all the work in your book and memorize the core verse (as well as recite it to someone).

What will an online student Bible study look like?

During the one and a-half hour time, we will have an interactive bible study, discussion, prayer, and fun.

Who will mark my lessons and listen to memory verses?

We encourage you to ask a mature believer in your community to mark your lessons and listen to the verses you memorize throughout the year. If you have a parent who follows Jesus, they are a great option!

What material will I receive when I register?

Once you register you will receive a link to the online store from which you can order your student bible study book. You may also want to order some of the Trek or Journey swag including t-shirt and bag!

What video chat program will be used?

ZOOM is a web conferencing service that can be used from a PC or Mac computer, tablet or iPad, or phone. Calling in is an option.

Leaders - How can you be involved?

This is a great opportunity for you as leaders to connect with your students online during the week and Awana will provide the platform via ZOOM for you to do this. Awana will also do the large group teaching walking through the curriculum His Story. If you are interested in becoming a small group leader and joining the group with your high school students please contact the Awana Regional Director Cory Vail and he can get you signed up as a small group leader for your group. Signing up will require completing plan to protect training, and a criminal record/vulnerable sector check. During this time of uncertainty we wanted to provide an opportunity for you to connect with your students online and around the Awana bible study material.
