Dave and Joyce Kinsey grew up in the Chicagoland area. Saved in Awana Clubs at a young age, Joyce has had many years of experience as a clubber, LIT, leader and director.
With a degree in Christian education, Dave learned about Awana while serving on the staff of a local church. Eventually, Dave and Joyce served as area co-ordinators in Western New York before moving to Ontario to work full-time as Awana missionaries.
God has used the Kinseys' many experiences to prepare them for their present ministry. Dave and Joyce have served as Awana missionaries since 1982. They have four grown children and make their home in Powassan, near North Bay, Ontario.
Both Dave and Joyce are well versed in the Awana program. They are available to counsel with church leaders regarding their youth ministry, and to present the Awana ministry to boards, committees, and congregations. They are also ready to conduct leadership training, operate area AwanaGames and Sparks-a-Ramas, and speak at your special events, such as award presentations, banquets, church services, and missions conferences. Please feel free to contact them directly.
Dave will be speaking at the following LEAD Experiences: Feb 2-3 in Barrie.
Rebekah grew up in London ON, but now lives with her husband in Woodbridge ON. She lives there with her husband Calvin and their dog Fitz. They both grew up in the Awana program and met at OSC (Awana's summer camp).
Attending Awana from a very young age, Rebekah grew up through the program, starting in Cubbies and working her way through to Journey, receiving her Citation Award in 2013. It was in her last year of Sparks that she remembered hearing the gospel for the first time and asked Jesus into her life. When she was 11 years old at Awana’s Ontario Scholarship Camp, she re-dedicated her life to Christ and knew that she would love to be involved in missions someday.
During high school, her family did home church and she ran a bible study for the girls in her neighborhood. She was baptized when she was 18 years old at Community Bible Church in Lucan, Ontario. During high school, Rebekah was trained as a missionary by Child Evangelism Fellowship Ontario in Brantford for 4 summers, learning how to work with kids and share the gospel effectively. She was also trained in how to run an effective children’s program. Rebekah also received training from Awana as an LIT (Leader in Training) and through the LEAD program.
Some of Rebekah’s hobbies are going for walks, hiking, sitting by camp fires and stargazing. Her passion, however, is sharing her love for kids and training teens and adults in building relationships with kids and reaching out to them with the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:14).
Rebekah will be speaking at the following LEAD Experiences: Feb 2-3 in Barrie, Feb 9-10 in Windsor, Feb 16-17 in London, and Feb 23-24 in St. Catharines.
Josh was born and raised in the historical city St. Johns, Newfoundland. As a teenage boy he fell in love with serving in the Awana Clubs. Serving on the front lines as a Leader, Director, and Commander was an amazing experience. The victories were always a blessing and seeing boys, girls, and families won to Christ was an amazing experience!
Josh and Faith have been married for 12 years and have three children, Harmony (6) Simon (3) and Chastity (1). They have served the Lord in many ways over the years and are thrilled to be a part of Awana! They love coming along side of the local church asking them, “How can we help?” They simply desire to be a blessing. Josh and Faith live in the beautiful forest city, London, Ontario. Josh enjoys playing hockey, running, and pretty playing any sport. He has met many people on the Awana trails and is looking forward to meeting and being a blessing to many more.
Josh will be speaking at the following LEAD Experiences: Feb 2-3 in Barrie, Feb 9-10 in Windsor, Feb 16-17 in London, and Feb 23-24 in St. Catharines.
I was born and raised in the small farming community of Simcoe Ontario where I spent time working on my family farm. This is where I
learned a strong work ethic, team work, and the ins and outs of the agriculture industry. I was raised in a home where I was given the freedom to choose what I believe in and choose if I wanted to be a part of the local Awana program. I joined as a Cubbie and fell in love with Awana. I went through the program and was able to attend the Awana Ontario Scholarship Camp and accepted Christ as my personal Saviour at camp in 2006. I grew in my faith through the Awana program, received my citation award in 2012 and from there became a leader within my church and Awana program.
I have been able to use my faith to reach youth across the province and have developed a fire and a passion for youth ministry. I am always willing to share my story with anyone. I am always willing to lend a hand and go out of my way to support and help someone. God has blessed me in so many ways and I am eternally grateful. I believe Awana has given me the opportunity of a lifetime by leading me to
Christ and so I have made it my personal goal to reach as many boys and girls for Christ as possible.
Currently I am studying business through Nipissing University and will finish with a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree. I spend free time outdoors, golfing, and watching auto racing and hockey.
Evan will be speaking at the following LEAD Experiences: Feb 16-17 in London, and Feb 23-24 in St. Catharines.
Andrew grew up in a Christian family. As a young boy, he regularly attended church with his parents and eleven siblings. At the age of thirteen, he accepted Jesus into his life.
“When I accepted Jesus as my saviour, I had no idea what my life would look like moving forward. I most definitely did not expect the spiritual battle that would ensue over the next few years.”
Throughout Andrew’s teen years, he struggled with a pornography addiction, but God used song writing and scripture to grab hold of his heart.
Since releasing his debut acoustic album in November 2012, he has travelled across Ontario playing concerts and leading worship for thousands of people. In fall of 2013, he was invited to open for JUNO Award winning artist and former lead singer of the band Starfield Tim Neufeld on his hit tour “Trees.” Tim had this to say about Andrew:
“Andrew Abbott is the kind of humble, ministry focused, up-and-coming young artist that renews my faith in the future of Christian music ... see him locally while you can. There are big things in store for this gifted man of God.”
Andrew is not only known for his singing and song writing, but has also been recognized for his speaking. In 2008 (at age 17), he took first place at Word of Life’s Evangelistic Preaching Competition. Since then, he has travelled the country, speaking and inspiring youth on the grace of God and the importance of living a life set apart for Him.
Andrew will be speaking at the following LEAD Experiences: Feb 9-10 in Windsor, and Feb 16-17 in London.
